Project, program and portfolio
The cheapest decision to change is one that hasn't been made yet. Delivery model, contract form, risk allocation, staging, programme: these get settled early, often before anyone with construction experience is in the room, and they shape everything that follows. Getting them right costs very little. Unwinding them later costs a great deal.
bryr. works at that point. We help clients make the decisions that set a project up to succeed, at the level where they sit: a single project, a program of works, or a portfolio of assets and priorities.
Our advice comes from people who have delivered at scale for Defence, government and private clients, including as managing contractor on national programs negotiated directly with the Commonwealth. We know how contractors will read your tender, where they'll price risk and where they'll look for variations. We bring that insight to your side of the table.
We know how the other side reads a contract, because we used to be the other side.
How We Work
We start with what you're trying to achieve and what you've already committed to. Most projects arrive with some decisions made, and we need to understand which of them are fixed and which can still move.
Then we give you an honest assessment. If the business case rests on an assumption that won't hold, or the procurement approach will attract the wrong market, we tell you early and explain why. Our advice is independent. We aren't tied to a builder, a design firm or a preferred outcome, so the recommendation is the one that suits your project.
Everything we recommend is tested against how it will actually be delivered. A strategy that reads well but can't be built, procured or resourced is no use to anyone.
When the strategy is set, we can stay on to deliver it through our client-side leadership and delivery services. The people who shaped the approach are the ones who carry it through.
When to call us
You need to choose a delivery model and want advice that isn't tied to a particular answer.
Your business case or programme is about to go to a board, a funder or government, and you want it tested first.
You're planning a program of works across several sites and need a consistent way to prioritise and deliver it.
A project is underway and something doesn't feel right.
What we do
Project level
Development advisory and feasibility. We test assumptions, identify risk and structure the project to protect the investment before capital is committed.
Procurement and contracting strategy. We advise on delivery model, contract form and risk allocation, then shape how you approach the market so you attract the right contractors on the right terms.
Constructability and staging advice. We review the design and delivery approach for buildability, staging and sequencing, especially in live environments such as occupied schools, hospitals and bases.
Programme development and review. A realistic programme built from how the work will actually be sequenced and resourced, or an independent test of an existing one.
Program and portfolio level
Capital program planning. We help you prioritise, sequence and package a program of works across multiple sites, including standardised approaches that make funding go further.
Delivery capability health checks. We give an independent assessment of your organisation's capacity to deliver its program: governance, systems, people and risk, with a clear plan to close the gaps.
Governance and reporting frameworks. We set up the controls, reporting and decision-making structures that let boards and executives see how a program is really tracking.
Market entry advisory. For developers and investors new to the Australian market, advice on the local procurement environment, contracting norms, approvals and delivery risk.
Independent review
Business case and programme review. Independent scrutiny of schedule, cost and risk, giving decision-makers a clear picture before they go further.
Project and program health checks. For work already underway, an honest assessment of where it stands, what's driving the issues, and what it will take to recover.
