Project Overview
The Project
Located halfway between Brisbane and Surfers Paradise on a former rifle range in Pimpama, the Pimpama Sports Hub is an $80 million regional sporting and community precinct delivered for the City of Gold Coast. Designed by Liquid Blu Architects and Place Design Group and delivered by ADCO Constructions, the 14-hectare facility was built across two separable portions, physically divided by a natural watercourse running through the site.
The hub was conceived as more than a sports facility — a vibrant, multi-use destination that merged the natural environment with contemporary recreation, celebrated the site's history, and created a genuine social heart for one of Queensland's fastest-growing communities.

What was delivered
The completed precinct includes an aquatic centre with five pools — a 10-lane outdoor 50-metre competition pool, indoor 25-metre program pool, learn-to-swim pool, warm water therapy pool, and children's interactive splash pad. Alongside it sits a health and fitness centre, 12-court netball facility and clubhouse, nine tennis courts, café and dining areas, multipurpose hall, community centre, meeting and function rooms, landscaped event space, shaded spectator seating, and walking trails through the parkland.
The facility was designed to be Australia's first 100 per cent energy self-sufficient sports precinct — powered by large solar arrays, battery storage, cogeneration, and rainwater harvesting.
The outcome
Since opening in December 2021 the hub has exceeded expectations. Attendance has grown from approximately 190,000 visits in the first year to more than 450,000 visits in 2024–25 — an increase of almost 140 per cent. The precinct has hosted major events including the Australian National Pickleball Championships, attracting around 1,200 participants, and continues to serve the full community across sport, fitness, rehabilitation, and social connection.
The City of Gold Coast has described it as delivering exactly the outcomes it set out to achieve — a benchmark for large-scale public infrastructure in fast-growing communities.
Our role
Delivered under the leadership of Brad Eathorne as State Manager for the delivery contractor, with responsibility for the Queensland construction operations that brought this landmark project to completion.
